HULU TERENGGANU, Feb 28 (Bernama) -- The National Satellite Farm at the Tersat Livestok Breeding Centre here is capable of improving the country's ability in meat and dairy production.
Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the government was confident that the farm would also become the centre to produce new entrepreneurs in the livestock-breeding industry.
"I truly hope that the whole area of Hulu Terengganu will be able to develop a complete ecosystem, not only as livestock breeding centre, but also a place where the public can take part in the industry," he told reporters after visiting the farm here today.
Also present was State Agriculture and Agro-based, Plantation and Commodity Industry Committee chairman Nawi Mohamad.
Right now, Ahmad Shabery said the Tersat Livestock Breeding Centre measuring over 2,000 hectares, was house for approximately 2,000 cattle.
"At the same time, other projects are also being implemented at the centre, such as goat and sheep breeding farms.
"With the existence of these farms, it was hoped to reduce country's dependency on imported beef, mutton and milk," he added.
